Tryouts for 2026-2027 Teams

Joining the Rumson Futbol Club

Rumson FC holds open tryouts annually in April/May for the following Seasonal Year (Fall/Spring)
All players must register for a tryout with an Age Group based on birth to be considered
Interested players must be registered at least 24 hours prior to a scheduled tryout
For tryouts with two dates, players are strongly encouraged to attend both dates

Important Notes on the Change in Age Groupings for Teams:

Beginning these tryouts (for Teams beginning play in Fall 2026), Rumson FC teams will follow the new youth soccer age ranges, aligning with the leagues we play in and our State Association.
All players will register for tryouts within the new birth date ranges and our goal will be to build teams in alignment with the new ranges. Our focus remains on providing the best environment for growth and development and we believe, for most players, this will be in alignment with the new age ranges.
However, this may result in some players being aligned with players not in their grade or not with whom they have previously played. As part of the registration process, parents will be able to request for their player to be evaluated to “play up” into the older age group if it better aligns with the player's grade in school, skill level, or team history. There is no option to "play down" in a lower age group (regardless of grade), as per the rules of the State Association and leagues.
All players will attend a tryout and be evaluated within their age group based on birth date and those who have requested to "play-up" will be evaluated by the professional trainers for fit with the older team. The Tryout Committee will make final team placement determinations with deep consideration of those parent requests alongside considerations of roster size, player fit, and team competitiveness.
Players born between 8/1/2019 and 12/31/2019 may try out for a U8 team if, and only if, they will be in 2nd Grade in Fall of 2026. Proof of enrollment will be requested after registration.

Tryout Registration

2026-2027 Travel Registration

This is the two-step registration process for the 20256-2027 season. Players are first registered for a Tryout and then, if invited to a team after the Tryout, players are registered for the team and fees are collected.

Registration is strictly by birth date range (see exact range in each division below). While the intent is to align age groups to grades in school, registration and team-building is NOT done by grade. The grades (as of Fall 2026) listed are for guidance only and some players will register for a tryout with an age group that does not align with their grade. The system will not allow registration outside of the age group that aligns with the player date of birth. Dates of birth submitted will be verified via Birth Certificate when invited to a team. Tryouts are free -- if there is a fee listed below, it represents the initial payment due when accepting an invite to join a team.
